Biography

Pennsylvania-based death metal act Divine Rapture is the work of Mike Hrubovcak (vocals), J.J. Hrubovcak (guitar, guitar synth, keys, drums), Babak Davodian (guitar, synthesizer), and Ryan Moll (bass). First forming in the late '90s, the group recorded a three-song demo with the help of former Morbid Angel and Hate Eternal guitarist Erik Rutan before landing a deal with French independent Listenable Records. Following a slew of live performances opening for sonic godfathers like Deicide, Monstrosity and Dying Fetus -- including a drummer-less appearance at the Milwaukee Metalfest (!!!) -- Divine Rapture's first full-length album of technical, brutal death metal, The Burning Passion emerged in 2003. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
