Division No. 12 is a census division in northeastern Alberta. Its main population centres are the city of Cold Lake and the towns of Bonnyville and St. Paul. Residents know the area as "the Lakeland" because of the many sizeable lakes in the area, such as Cold Lake, Moose Lake, Muriel Lake, and Lac la Biche Lake.

Demographics

In 2006, Division No. 12 had a population of 59,990 living in 24,756 dwellings, a 2.8% increase from 2001. The Census division has a land area of 30,046.71 km2 (11,601.1 sq mi) and a population density of 2.0 inhabitants per square kilometer.[1] This is the only census division in Western Canada where the largest reported ethnic origin was French,[1] although the city of Cold Lake is an exception, where the dominant ethnicity is English (after Canadian).[1]
