Division No. 16 is a census division in northeastern Alberta, centred around Fort McMurray. It is largely composed of its two largest components, Wood Buffalo Regional Municipality (65.12% of its land area), and Wood Buffalo National Park (the Alberta part, known as Improvement District No. 24, or 34.36% of its land area). The balance of the division's territory, only 0.514% of its land area, is composed of 25 Indian reserves and one Indian settlement.

In 2006, Division No. 16 had a population of 53,080 living in 21,085 dwellings, a 23.5% increase from 2001. The Census division has a land area of 97,267.39 km² (37,555.1 sq mi) and a population density of 0.5 inhabitants per square kilometer.^[1]
