Unlike some of the revival New Orleans jazz bands of the 1960s that featured over-the-hill and out-of-tune musicians, the New Orleans players heard on this LP (and recorded in the mid-'50s) have impressive musicianship and plenty of drive. Three overlapping groups are featured and these are led by trombonist Santo Pecora and trumpeters Sharkey Bonano and George Girard; among the sidemen are trombonist Jack Delaney, clarinetists Harry Shields and Raymond Burke and pianist Armand Hug. The spirited music generally sticks to Dixieland favorites with the ill-fated George Girard taking solo and vocal honors. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
