Alvin F. "Doggie" Julian (April 5, 1901 – July 28, 1967) was a well-known college men's basketball coach. After graduating in 1923 from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, he gained legendary status by leading the College of the Holy Cross to the NCAA title in 1947. His team (including later NBA great Bob Cousy) almost repeated this feat in 1948, losing in the semifinals. Julian was engaged by the Boston Celtics after his college success, but he only recorded 47-81 before he was dismissed in 1950. Julian returned to collegiate ranks, coaching the Dartmouth College from 1950 to 1967. He was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, United States.
Julian was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame as a coach in 1968.
