The Dominican House of Studies is a Priory of the Province of St. Joseph of the Order of Preachers. It houses the Pontifical Faculty of the Immaculate Conception and the Priory of the Immaculate Conception. Building
The Dominican House of Studies is located on Michigan Ave., directly across from The Catholic University of America, in the part of northeastern Washington DC once known as "Little Rome", today more commonly referred to as Brookland.
Erected in 1905, the building is in the Gothic style. It is rumored to be the oldest poured concrete building in the District of Columbia, and is one of the oldest buildings near the University.
In addition to the Pontifical Faculty, Dominican House of Studies is home to the journal The Thomist and the Dominican College Library. It also provides office space to the Washington Theological Consortium, of which it is a member,[1] and the Leonine Commission, the commission preparing the critical edition of the works of Thomas Aquinas.

Pontifical Faculty
The first American general studium of the Order of Preachers was established in Ohio in 1834. The studium moved to its present site during the first decade of the Catholic University of America.
In 1941 the Faculty was made a Pontifical Faculty of Theology (cf. Pontifical University), authorized to grant the degrees of Bachelor of Sacred Theology, Licentiate of Sacred Theology, and Doctor of Sacred Theology. Notwithstanding the accredidation the Faculty does not at present award the STD.
It received civil accredidation to award the Master of Divinity during the 70's. In 1993, to better serve its lay students, the Faculty began to offer a Master of Arts.
The Faculty, as Dominican, has a strong affinity to the works of St. Thomas Aquinas.
