From La Romana, take Highway 4 east for about 40 minutes until you see the sign for Boca de Yuma, then turn southeast and continue for another 11 miles or so until you reach the magnificent bluffs and can only turn either left or right. You can also look for the bright yellow and green National Park signs, pointing the way to an entrance for Parque Nacional del Este.
Rental cars are available at La Romana Airport. Guaguas also ply the route from La Romana directly to Boca de Yuma.
CAUTION: If you decide to stay in Boca de Yuma, bring plenty of cash since the closest ATM is in La Romana to the west or Higüey to the north – up to an hour’s drive away in either case. |
