Saints: Donald

Donald (Domhnall) (d. early 8th century). He was a Scot who lived at Ogilvy (Forfarshire), married, and had nine daughters, with whom, after his wife's death, he led a religious life. After his death they moved to Abernethy. They are generally known as the Nine Maidens, a name often applied also to natural features in the areas such as hills and wells. Feast: 15 July.
