Plot

Unctuous uberzillionaire Max Gast (Udo Kier), a diabolical industrialist who thinks the world is dangerously overpopulated, prepares to use his space-based weapon to cause widespread nuclear meltdowns at power plants around the world and thereby reduce the population by several hundred million. And he'll rule the survivors with his statuesque -- some would say wooden -- wife Elizabeth (Brigitte Nielsen) by his side as his queen. But Max didn't count on suave, savvy, and handsome special agent Jack Logan (Joe Lara) coming to the planet's rescue. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

Review

Human action figure Joe Lara, he of the intensely chiseled features, is more James Bond than G.I. Joe in this save-the-planet espionage romp. Lara, who usually plays a lonely (and somewhat dim) sex object, gets the girl(s), infiltrates the enemy, confronts the evil genius, and causes mass destruction, all of it done fairly well and on a low budget by debuting director Michael J. Sarna, a veteran stunt coordinator. Lara and co-star Sandra Gomez, as his multi-skilled warrior former lover, have little chemistry, but Brigitte Nielsen, who continues to look less human with each, um, enhancement, and Udo Kier, whose career has gained momentum in the last few years (see him at his best in Kiss of the Vampire), have chemistry to burn as the insane couple trying to rule the world. Zany villains, lots of fiery explosions, and a subplot involving the weapons maker (a Latino version of Q in the Bond series) to whom Logan loses the girl, add up to a film that fills the needs of those desperately seeking mindless, military-oriented B-movie violence. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide
