Late 12th-c. chanson de geste of 4, 600 lines, in which social breakdown results from Doon's mistakenly repudiating his wife for adultery and rejecting his son for being a bastard. The son and wife together eventually re-establish justice and order. An unusual chanson de geste for its concentration on the delinquence of the father/husband, its story is recast in the Spanish romance Istoria de Enrique, fi de Oliva.
