Double density

(computer science) Property of a computer storage medium that holds twice as much data per unit of storage space as the standard; applied particularly to floppy disks.

Though originally a designation of the Format of a Floppy Disk that put twice as many Bits into a given area as the single-density format, double density is now the lowest density commonly found; for most IBM-compatible computers, double density means 360K on a 5.25-inch disk and 720K on a 3.5-inch disk.
