Review

The first release by this harmony-soaked quartet from the Virginia seaboard. With a sound reminiscent of the Kingston Trio, the group combines songs of the sea with Irish balladry and folkie earnestness. Meade Stith's fine banjo playing highlights the musical arrangements, and the manly vocal harmonies carry the listener back to the sailing ships of yore. Upbeat numbers like "The Mermaid" and "South Australia" are great fun, while "I'm Going Home" could have been recorded at a folk festival in the early 1960s. ~ Jim Newsom, All Music Guide
