The discharge of saliva from the mouth. A normal feature in some breeds of dogs such as St. Bernard, Newfoundland and English bulldog, presumably because of their loose, pendulous lips. In other dogs and in cats it can be a sign of abnormalities of swallowing, painful oral lesions, diseased teeth, or disorders of salivary glands with hypersialosis.
