Druga Mlodosc (Second Youth) may well have been the last Polish film completed before the Nazi takeover. Maria Gorczynska stars as Irena, a middle-aged woman who marries a man the same age as her. Unfortunately Irena is a stranger to fidelity, and soon she has fallen in love with her husband's much-younger son. Eventually choosing the son as her soul-mate, Irena herself is a victim of fickleness when her new boyfriend walks out in favor of a girl his own age. The poignant climax finds Irena holding her grandchild in her arms, wondering how she would be feeling had the baby been her own child. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
