Review
Drums of Passion has a purpose, says its creator Babatunde Olatunji: to celebrate freedom, justice and peace. As such, each song is a call to remind the world that freedom and peace have a price and once won have a price to maintain them. The songs are uplifting and hopeful, and inspire change rather than disparage the status quo. Olatunji maintains his more familiar African style of music but Westernizes it with engaging keyboards, trumpets and guitars. There are calypso, Latin and Caribbean rhythms. Percussion is a key element in every piece on this very enlivening album. ~ MusD, All Music GuideTracks
