DSP/BIOS

Wikipedia: DSP/BIOS

DSP/BIOS is a royalty-free real-time multi-tasking kernel (mini-operating-system) created by Texas Instruments for the TMS320 family of DSP. DSP/BIOS is an integrated part of Texas Instruments DSP integrated development environment called Code Composer Studio.

The DaVinci branch of the TMS320 family includes an ARM integrated on the same die as the TMS320 DSP forming an SoC. For this application, DSP/BIOS provides an API called DSP/BIOS Link to facilitate communication between the ARM GPP (General Purpose Processor) and the DSP, and enabling data and control information to be exchanged between the GPP and the DSP. DSP/BIOS Link also provides functions for booting the DSP and controlling which algorithms the DSP executes for a specific task.
