Duba (Arabic: ضبا ) is a city on the northern Red Sea coast, of Saudi Arabia. It is in Tabuk Province. Local citizens discribe it as The Pearl of the Red Sea

History

Duba is located on the Egyptian road of Hajj. Sheikh Abdulghani Al Nabulsi wrote about it in 1790 , in his way to Mecca for Hajj. but the first reference about Duba was written in 1203. but Salma and Kafafah were known before that date. Ptolemy the ancient greek scientist , wrote about a Trade road from Kafafah to Lihyan (Todays Al-`Ula ).

Ottoman turks fortified the city during their reign , protecting the way from Egypt to Arabia.

The Saudi conquest of the city in 1933 , moved the city into the modern form . King Abdulaziz built his castle in the same year.

Geography

Duba is located on pointer (35:40 E) , (27:20 N) . North-East of Saudi Arabia on the coast of the Red Sea. Duba includes 3 valleys, Dahkan on north , Salma and Kafafah on south.
