Dubhlaing

Celtic Mythology: Dubhlaing

Legendary soldier at the historical Battle of Clontarf (1014), as an attendant to the oldest son of Brian Bórama (Boru). He became the lover of the beautiful divinity Aíbell, who prophesied he would die if not protected by the Cloak of Invisibility. She wrapped him in it, but he threw it off, going into battle and fulfilling her prediction. See also DÚNLANG Ó HARTAGÁIN.
