DUSA Pharmaceuticals has seen the light. The company develops photodynamic and and photodetection therapies for treating and diagnosing a variety of dermatological conditions using a combination of drugs and light. In the US, DUSA markets its Levulan Kerastick brand topical solution, a product that is used in combination with the BLU-U light to treat actinic keratoses, or pre-cancerous skin lesions caused by sun exposure. On its own, BLU-U is also FDA approved to treat moderate acne. DUSA's 2006 acquisition of Sirius Laboratories expanded the company's product line for acne to include Nicomide, an oral prescription, and ClindaReach, a topical prescription.
