The Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial is a proposed United States presidential memorial to be constructed for United States President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

Dwight D. Eisenhower

On October 25, 1999, the United States Congress created the Dwight D. Eisenhower Memorial Commission under Public Law 106-79. The Commission is in the planning stages of creating the memorial in Washington, D.C. In 2005, the Commission selected a preferred site across Independence Avenue from the National Air and Space Museum and north of the Department of Education. They are now seeking approval of that site from various government agencies. Public Law 107-117 (January 10, 2002) authorized the commission to establish the memorial on lands under the jurisdiction of the United States Department of the Interior. Once established the Eisenhower Memorial will fall under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service.

On November 8, 2005, the National Capital Memorial Advisory Commission approved the Eisenhower Memorial Commission's request that the Eisenhower Memorial be located across the street from the National Air and Space Museum just a few blocks from the United States Capitol.

On March 31, 2009, Frank Gehry was announced as the lead designer of the Eisenhower Memorial.[1]
