The unattained object of poet Dafydd ap Gwilym (c.1320–70) and subject of nine of his poems. A dark-haired, aristocratic, remote, and virginal woman, she contrasts with the poet's blonde sweetheart, Morfudd. The woman who served as the basis for Dyddgu was the daughter of Ieuan ap Gruffudd ap Llywelyn, who lived at Tywyn in south Ceredigion (Cardiganshire; since 1974, Dyfed).
