Dydo Japan Cup

Wikipedia: Dydo Japan Cup

Dydo Japan Cup is an annual PBA (Professional Bowlers Association) and JPBA (Japan Professional Bowling Association) bowling event. The tournament typically featured the top 16 bowlers from each organization, and has been dominated by PBA Tour professionals since 1989. The last JPBA bowler to win the event was Takeo Sakai in 1988.

The 2009 Dydo Japan Cup featured a starting field of 144 bowlers, including:

  • 90 combined JPBA members and associate members (Korean bowlers represent the JPBA)
  • 20 PBA professionals
  • 34 Japanese amateurs from the Japan Bowling Congress

The field was cut to 48 players after 12 games of qualifying. The Top 16 qualifiers earned a bye into the Round of 32 match play, with the #17-#48 seeds bowling an initial round of match play (best 3 of 5) to determine the other 16 seeds.[1]
