Sports Science and Medicine: dynamic flexibility

The range of motion that can be achieved by actively moving a body segment using muscle actions. Dynamic flexibility also refers to the relative ease of making rapid or repeated movements over any range, rather than the range itself (compare extent flexibility). It is determined by the forces that oppose or resist the movements, and is affected by the ability of muscles to recover quickly. Dynamic flexibility is an important ability underlying many gross motor skills, and is important for developing speed and power.
