Eachtra

Eachtrae, Eachtrada (pl.)

The Modern Irish word for ‘adventure’, the first word in the title of innumerable folk-tales, some of which are humorous and anti-heroic. Although Modern Irish Eachtra is sometimes used interchangeably with the Old Irish and MidIr. Echtra, the older form denotes an adventure of a specific type, often in the Otherworld.
