Biography

Earthrise was formed in Williamstown, NJ, in 1975 by Kenn Pierog (bass), Bill Drobile (keyboards), and Greg DiDonato (drums). A keyboard-dominated band, the group's sound was influenced by such classically oriented groups as Emerson, Lake, & Palmer. In 1977, Earthrise released their eponymous debut album, which was recorded mostly live in the studio. They released it on their own record label, Arceden. Earthrise pressed 400 copies of the album and sold it to local record stories. In 1979, the band broke up. However, over the next 20 years the album became known as a lost classic, fetching prices around 1,000 dollars. With demands for more material, the band re-formed in 1998 to record a new album of the same material. ~ Geoff Orens, All Music Guide
