It is around 10 miles from the city of Norwich, and is close to the town of East Dereham. The village has an area of 847 hectares (3.27 square miles) with an estimated population of 515, according to the Breckland 2007 yearbook.[2].

The village is served by All Saints church in the Benefice of Mattishall.
