EC3 Global is an internationally recognised environmental advisory group which is wholly owned by Sustainable Tourism CRC (STCRC), and provides an array of programs and services for companies, communities and other interest groups to set and achieve sustainability targets. With origins leading back to 1987, EC3's research encompasses 250 tourism and environmental sustainability leaders in 16 universities [1]. EC3's influence has grown to encompass hundreds of projects, creating a strong market presence in over 50 countries.

Products & Programs

EC3 Global commercialises sustainability oriented technologies and certification programs originally developed for the tourism sector, by or in conjunction with the STCRC. Currently EC3 Global has four main products, Earthcheck, Green Globe, IPAT and Decipher, as listed below:

Decipher is a unique web based business data facility which acts as a planning and development support tool for the travel and tourism industry providing research on accommodation, destination and enterprise management, industry associations, relevant legislation and hundreds of other areas.
  • EC3 earthcheck.png
Earthcheck is an internationally trusted system of indicators that allow individuals, enterprises and destinations to systematically measure, benchmark, report and manage their performance.
  • EC3 ipat.png
IPAT (Industry Performance Analysis Tool) is an online technology and consulting solution that delivers measurable CSR improvement through the collection, storage, reporting and analysis of key industry performance indicators.

Green Globe (Underpinned by Earthcheck Science) is the only international sustainability programme that offers benchmarking and certification specifically developed for the tourism and hospitality industries and based on the Agenda 21 principles agreed to by 182 Heads of State at the Rio Earth Summit in 1992. Participants in the EC3 Global managed Green Globe programme span over 60 countries, including the Asia Pacific Region, Europe, Middle East, Africa and the Americas.
