Eddie Gannon

Eddie Gannon was an Irish professional footballer.

Born in Dublin on 3rd January 1921, he began his career in his native city with Shelbourne F.C. before transferring to Notts County in 1946.

He made a big impression in Nottingham and was transferred to Sheffield Wednesday in 1949.

After a succesful career, Eddie returned to Shelbourne F.C. wher he acted as player manager from 1954 until 1957.

He also won 14 caps for the Republic of Ireland national football team, his first appearance coming on 5th December 1948 in a 1-0 defeat to Switzerland.

Eddie Gannon died in July 1989.
