Eddie Redmayne (born 6 January 1982)[1] is an English actor and model. He won the award for Outstanding Newcomer at the 50th Evening Standard Theatre Awards (2004) for his performance in Edward Albee's The Goat, or Who is Sylvia?, and the award for Best Newcomer at the Critics' Circle Theatre Awards in 2005.[2] So far, he has starred in three films based on the Tudor period.
Redmayne attended Eton College, and went on to study History of Art at Trinity College, Cambridge, from where he graduated with a 2:1 in 2003. He performed with the National Youth Music Theatre (where he was a contemporary of the tenor Nicky Spence), and made his professional stage debut for Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in Twelfth Night at the Middle Temple Hall in 2002.
In 2008, he became a model for Burberry.[3]
His screen credits include the BBC miniseries Tess Of The D'Urbervilles as Angel Clare. His most recent stage credit is Now or Later by Christopher Shinn at the Royal Court Theatre, London. The show ran from the 3 September to 18 October 2008.[4]
Redmayne is attached to star in the film adaptation of Ruardidh Nicoll's White Male Heart and in 2009 will appear in Red, a new play by John Logan at the Donmar Warehouse.[5]
