Dictionary of Dance: Edward Burra

Burra, Edward (b London 1905, d Rye, 1976). British painter and ballet designer. He studied at the Chelsea School of Art and the Royal College of Art. Among the ballets he designed are Rio Grande (Ashton, 1932), Don Juan (Ashton, 1948), Barabau (de Valois, 1936), Don Quixote (de Valois, 1950), and Miracle in the Gorbals (Helpmann, 1944).
