Eglantine (Weber: Euryanthe). Mezzo-Soprano. A guest and supposed friend of Euryanthe, she loves Euryanthe's fiancé, Adolar, and persuades her hostess to betray his trust, thus convincing him of her disloyalty. When Adolar learns the truth, Eglantine is killed by the man she is about to marry. Created (1823) by Thérese Grünbaum.
