Eilert Ekwall (8 January 187723 November 1964) was a Swede who was Professor of English at Lund University from 1909 to 1942. He studied the toponymy of England, and wrote English River Names (1928), Studies on English Place- and Personal Names (1931) and The Concise Oxford Dictionary of English Place-Names (1936).
