El Greco malt den Großinquisitor, a Novelle by S. Andres, published in 1936 and based on a portrait of Cardinal Niño de Guevara by El Greco. The picture, in a private collection in Winterthur, is interpreted in the story chiefly through dialogues between the Inquisitor, his doctor, Cazalla, and the painter.
