El Viejo Hucha (The Old Skinflint) is the character played by Enrique Munio. Neither old nor a skinflint, Munio is simply so devoted to his family that he is willing to scrimp and save every penny he makes so that they won't go hungry in the event of his death. Alas, Munio's impecuniousness eventually alienates his family, and after his demise the bitter fight over his estate tears his loved ones apart even farther. With so many Argentine films of the period dealing in lighthearted, escapist themes, the grim realities of El Viejo Hucha are all the more startling. The film was the first production by Artistas Argentinos Asociados. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
