Only President Chavez supporters were nominated to the parliamentary election of 2005. The opposite parties to the President Chavez did not participate because they agreed that the CNE (national electoral institution) was not independent from the President Chavez. It was a very polemical decision because international viewers supported the election.[citation needed]
