The Electoral district of Brunswick is an electorate of the Victorian Legislative Assembly. It is located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne and is based around the suburb of Brunswick.
The seat has had three periods of existence. The seat was first formed in 1904 and abolished in 1955 before being reestablished in 1976. It was abolished again in 1992 only to be reestablished again in 2002. It has always been won by the Australian Labor Party.
The incumbent member is Carlo Carli.
On June 3 2009 Carli announced his intention to retire at the end of his term in November 2010.[1] On 25 June City of Moreland Councillor Enver Erdogan and City of Yarra Councillor Jane Garrett confirmed they were standing for preselection as Labor's candidate for the 2010 election.[2]
