A neighborly debut from Cincinnati's Fairmount Girls, Eleven Minutes to Anywhere lauds territory charted somewhere between the B-52's and alt-rockers Sleater-Kinney. Dishing lush girl group vocals (sans shrill), choppy guitars, moody organs, and banzai bebop drumming, this tasty recipe really cooks on "Whisper, Whine and Scream," "No Way," and "1-900-Fairmount." Sprinkled throughout are playful choruses of oohs, aahs, and la la las that further embellish artsy numbers "Sugar 26" and "Solar Sunday" (the later reveals the album's title). Though the overall feel doesn't stray far from the formula, some material sounds unevenly matched, likely due to a web of eight different contributors. Overall, this is a kitschy outing with moxie; a year later the release of Tender Trap would exhibit a streamlined lineup, focused direction, and honed style. ~ Craig Curtice, All Music Guide
