Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson
Elizabeth Hutchinson Jackson (1745–November 2 1781) was the mother of US President Andrew Jackson. She was born in Carrickfergus County Antrim, Northern Ireland. She was the daughter of Francis Cyrus Hobart Hutchinson of Owthorpe Nottinghamshire, England. and his wife Margaret Lisle of Royston, Yorkshire, England. She was the great grandaughter of John Hutchinson. She married Andrew Jackson in Carrickfergus, County Antrim,Ireland in 1765. With her husband Andrew, she emigrated to America from Ireland in 1765. She and her husband Andrew settled in the Waxhaws area, of what was then North Carolina. She died during the American Revolutionary War from cholera, contracted while nursing Continental soldiers, as a nurse on a prison ship of the British.
