Biography

Barrett Strong discovered Eliza (aka Eliza Thomasian) and signed her to his Blarritt record label in Southfield, MI. The former Motown singer/songwriter acts as a mentor for the dynamic singer and the two collaborate on material. Soulful vocalist Eliza is known throughout the Midwest for her passionate delivery and kicking seven-piece band. The crew features Eliza (vocals, keyboards), Brian Lord (guitar, harmonica, vocals), Scott Poquette (guitar), Sonya Mastick (percussion), Jerome Day (drums), David Mastic (bass), and Michelle Thomasian (backing vocals). She has recorded two critically acclaimed CDs for Blarritt: the self-titled Eliza and I'm Waiting. When not rehearsing or recording, the band hits the road, travelling to festivals and concerts where they share the stage with many stars. She was featured in Bottom Line's showcase series entitled Nightbirds: Women in Music, and was as impressive as ever at the famed New York nightclub. Eliza has received rave reviews from everyone from the Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan to Jenny Jones. ~ Andrew Hamilton, All Music Guide
