Biography

Diminutive, Brooklyn-born Ellen Whalen was trained in musical comedy and light opera before she entered the field of folk music. She joined the Back Porch Majority in 1965. She was often referred to jokingly as "Wailin' Ellen." ~ Bruce Eder, All Music Guide
