Eltham is a railway station in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, located in the suburb of Eltham, on the Hurstbridge railway line. It is in Metcard Zone 2. It is the terminus for some services.
Eltham is classed as a Premium Station.
The station is located between Main Road and Youth Road. Shops are located near the station.
The station consists of two platforms, in an island format. The island platform contains a large weatherboard building with an enclosed waiting room and a ticket office inside. A large Metcard machine is located inside the waiting room, which is able to dispense most ticketing options available and also accept notes and coins. Stabling facilities are located adjacent to the station, whilst a subway is underneath the station. Both platforms can be accessed via Main Road and Youth Road. The railway station is unfortunately in the middle of a notorious 15km section of single track which has hitherto been a cause of snowballing delays on the railway line.
Eltham station opened on Thursday, 5th June 1902. Electrification of the line from Melbourne reached Eltham on 15 April 1923. The last wooden trestle bridge on the Melbourne suburban network is located at the UP end of the station.
