Elwin

Elwin (Æthelwine)bishop of Lindsey 680–92. He studied in Ireland and was consecrated by Theodore at the request of Ethelred, king of Mercia. Bede calls him a uir sanctus: there seems to have been no early cult. Wilson's Martyrologe mentions him under 29 June; Challoner seems to have invented 3 May as his feast, with his brother Aldwyn, abbot of Peartney, and two other brothers, Edilhun and Egbert.
