Plot

This overlong biopic isn't as dramatically intense as Hollywood's Viva Zapata, but it's closer to the truth. Antonio Aguilar stars as Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata, who successfully topples the old, corrupt Diaz regime in the early part of the 20th century. A man of high principles, Zapata makes a lot of dangerous enemies in his rise to the top. This fact, coupled with his own unfortunate excesses once he's been placed in authority, leads to his abrupt downfall.
