Endellion

Endellion (Endelient) (6th century (?)), virgin, one of the children of Brychan. Virtually nothing is known of her life. She gave her name to St. Endellion (Cornwall), where part of her tomb survives and two wells are named after her. A chapel was also dedicated to her at Tregony, where she was reputed to have lived. Roscarrock records the legend that she lived there on the milk of one cow only, which was killed by the lord of Tregony because it strayed into his grounds. Her godfather, a great man, he says, caused the lord to be slain, but she miraculously revived him. At Lundy Island (opposite her brother Nectan's settlement at Hartland) another chapel was dedicated to her. Feast: 29 April.
