The England national under-16 football team represents England in international football at this age level and is controlled by The Football Association, the governing body for football in England.
The Head Coach is Kenny Swain, who was appointed in August 2004.[1]
Most players are in their clubs youth academy or reserve team.

Victory Shield
The England under-16 team compete in the annual United Kingdom football tournament the Victory Shield against Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Since World War II England have won the Victory Shield outright 33 times and have been joint winners with Scotland eight times, with Wales twice and with both Scotland and Wales twice. They are the current champions.[2]
Montaigu Tournament
In 2005 the team made their debut in the annual Montaigu Tournament, held in Montaigu, France.[3] In 2007 they reached the final, where they lost 2-0 to Germany on 9 April.[4]
They won the tournament in 2008. After finishing top of Group B, they met the hosts France who won Group A, in the final on 24 March, beating them 6-4 in a penalty shoot-out after a 0-0 draw to win the competition for the first time.[5]
