Enrique Iturriaga

(b Lima, 3 April 1918). Peruvian composer. He studied with Holzmann in Lima and Honegger in Paris; in 1973 he became director of the Escuela Nacional de Música. His works integrate Arequipan folk music with modern styles, from Hindemith to Webern; Vivencias (1965) was his first step towards 12-note serialism.
