'Epiphanias'

‘Epiphanias’, a humorous poem written by Goethe in 1781 and printed in 1811. It was devised for a festivity on 6 January 1781. The first, second, sixth, seventh, and eighth stanzas are sung by all three kings, and each sings one of the three intervening stanzas. The first king was sung by the actress Corona Schröter. The poem has been set to music by Hugo Wolf.
