Biography

Argentinean pop quartet Erreway (R Way) were introduced to South American youth audiences as the four protagonists on the popular TV series Rebelde Way. Luisiana Lopilato, Camila Bordonaba, Benjamin Rojas, and Felipe Columbo appeared on the show in 2002 and 2003, building toward an original motion picture, 4 Caminos, released in 2004. The band's musical debut, entitled Senales (2002), was an instantaneous hit in Argentina, selling better than a million copies. The record's release was followed by a sold-out performance in the Gran Rex, one of Argentina's most notable venues. R Way's sophomore effort, Tiempo, was released a year later, in April of 2003. This disc topped two million sales, becoming one of the year's most successful records. Memoria, the group's third release, included the bulk of 4 Caminos' soundtrack, and the CD's release coincided with the film's debut in the summer of 2004. Though the group officially disbanded shortly thereafter, three of the four appeared live in concert in Israel in 2006. The concert generated R Way's first live CD and DVD, entitled Erreway en Concierto, first available in September of that year. In their short four years, Erreway achieved enormous popularity throughout South America, Central America, Spain, and Israel. The group's theatrical and musical conquests served as a launching pad for the careers of all four of its members. Lopilato, Borbonaba, Colombo, and Rojas all enjoy healthy acting careers, appearing in various Latin American film and television projects. ~ Evan C. Gutierrez, All Music Guide

Four members (2002-2005)

Señales (2002)

Señales was released in 2002, and sold over one million copies worldwide. Singles from this album were "Sweet Baby", "Bonita de Más", "Resistiré", "Inmortal", "Amor de Engaño" and "Será Porque Te Quiero". The album release was followed by a sold-out performance at the Grand Rex Theater in Buenos Aires.

Some of the songs of the album were used in the first season of Rebelde Way.

Tiempo (2003)

Tiempo is the bands sophomore album, released in 2003. The singles off this album were "Tiempo", "Será de Dios", "Para Cosas Buenas", "Que Estés", "Te Soñé" and "Vas A Salvarte".

The band later went on a sold out tour to promote the album.

Many actors from "Rebelde Way" joined the band on tour, as dancers and back up vocalists. Victoria Maurette and Piru Sáez occasionally performed their own songs.

Memoria (2004)

Memoria, the group's third release, included songs from the band's movie, 4 Caminos, as the CD's release coincided with the film's release. Two singles were released from this album, "Memoria" and "Que Se Siente".

It sold over one million copies in Latin America. "Memoria" spent three weeks as the number one song in Argentina, becoming the group's most successful single, and one of the most successful songs written by Cris Morena.

As a Three member band (2006-)

Three compilations

In 2005, Erreway had their first tour without Lopilato, which resulted in Bordonaba singing Lopilato's parts. Lopilato originally missed tour due to the tour dates conflicting with the filming of her novela, Casados con Hijos. Lopilato later released a statement to Bravo magazine saying "I had no time for tour because of work. I said to our producer that I could go on the next tour, but he did not tell that to Camila, Benjamin and Felipe. So everyone thinks that I left the band. But, now, I can say to you that I will not be going back to Erreway. Though who knows what will be in the future"

In the summer of 2006 Bordonaba and Colombo went to Spain to promote the compilation album, Erreway en Concierto. The album included a CD of Erreway's greatest hits and a DVD, with videos of tour footage. It was released by Warner Music Spain.

In September 2007 the trio planned another tour in Spain. There were seven concerts planned, including concerts in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia. Erreway later decided to cancel the tour. Felipe released a statement saying "We have so much work to do. Camila and I are still working on Son de Fierro, and Benjamin is working on the movie, Kluge. We have not had time to finish our album, which we would like to do before going on another tour."

Vuelvo (2008)

Vuelvo will be the bands fourth studio album. It was set to release in 2008, but was postponed.

Television and film career

Chiquititas (1996-2001)

Chiquititas was a popular children's show in Latin America, which all four members of Erreway starred in. Camila Bordonaba was the first cast on the show, she played Pato from 1996-1999 and Camila Bustillo from 1999-2001 (including in the Chiquititas movie). Benjamín Rojas was the second member of Erreway to be cast in the show. He played Bautista Arce from 1998-1999 and in 2001 acted in the Chiquititas movie.

Lopilato joined the cast in 1998, playing the role of Luisana Maza. Colombo was the last to join the cast in 1999.

Chiquititas finished in 2001.

Rebelde Way and 4 Caminos

In 2002, Colombo, Lopilato, Rojas and Bordonaba were cast as the main characters in Rebelde Way. They played four students attending the fictitious Elite Way School. Bordonaba was cast as Marizza, Rojas as Pablo, Colombo as Manuel and Lopilato as Mía. Rebelde Way had international success and aired from 2002 - 2003.

On July 1, 2004, their movie 4 Caminos was released. Although it was panned by critics, it was successful in the box office.

Private life

Relationships

Bordonaba and Rojas were a couple on screen and off. They began dating while filming Chiquititas and broke up during the filming of 4 Caminos.

Lopilato and Colombo were also a couple on screen and of. They dated for five years but broke up in 2005, after a sex tape scandal.

Rivalry with RBD

Erreway poses with members of RBD at a concert in Spain

After the success of Rebelde Way, Televisa produced a Mexican version of the show, entitled Rebelde. Rebelde, and the band formed from the show, RBD, gained worldwide success. Rumors began that Erreway was jealous of RBD's success and that the bands were feuding. Both bands denied any sort of fued, saying that they are all friends. Before Erreway/Rebelde Way, Felipe Colombo even starred with Anahí of RBD/Rebelde in the Mexican telenovela Ángeles sin paraíso. Bordonaba later released a statement saying, "I think that the rivalry is between fans. Erreway and RBD are not fighting".
