Ervin Industries has a history of being abrasive, and its customers like it that way. The company, founded in 1920, is a pioneering developer of cast steel abrasives. It makes steel grit and steel shot -- sold under the AMACAST and AMASTEEL names -- for use in blast cleaning, cutting, and etching applications. Customers include manufacturers in the automotive, aerospace, construction, mining, railroad, and stone-cutting industries. The company's Ervin Technologies unit develops products such as super alloys used in aerospace and commercial applications. Ervin Industries also makes steel shot for shotgun shells.
