Escient, a division of D&M Holdings, is a manufacturer of high end centralized multimedia electronic devices that merge internet functionality with home audio/video equipment.
Their main product lines are movie managers, music managers, media players, and other peripherals that supplement these lines. The FireBall lineup provides up to a 750 GB hard drive for central music storage and the ability control as many as 2000 DVDs or CDs through one graphical user interface (GUI). These servers are supplemented with networked digital remote players for whole house audio.
The FireBall-PC software allows Mac OS X and Windows XP computers to be able to share media collections throughout the entire home. Also manufactured, is the wireless web pad that enables one to browse the internet, stream audio from the FireBall web servers, access the FireBall servers remotely via 802.11b wireless networking, and replace the FireBall TV interface.
